Crafting Your Website: Part 1 – The Homepage

Creating compelling content for your dental website is essential for driving traffic to your site and helping you meet more potential new patients. You’ll never have a second chance to make a first impression, and there is no page more critical on your website for this than your home page.

The home page is the first stop for your current and potential patients. This page introduces them to your dental practice, shares and explains your treatment philosophies, and guides them to the important information they’re looking for.

Think about your time spent online. When you land on a website, you’re searching for helpful information to help you accomplish your goal or task. Or maybe you need additional information about something you’re interested in or a product you’re looking for. If you’re unable to find the information you need quickly, you’re likely to move on to another website.

The same is true of your dental patients. It’s essential that your home page grabs their attention, piques their interest, and provides them with the critical information they need. The page should be attractive, easy to navigate, and informative.

Here are five helpful tips to keep in mind when writing your home page.

#1 Keep It Concise

Your home page content doesn’t need to be lengthy (maybe 500 words), but it should be friendly, conversational, and easy to read. Make sure you grab attention with informative headlines because the home page is your best opportunity to create leads into conversions.

#2 Focus on Benefits

Use home page content to introduce your dental clinic to potential new patients, outline the services you offer, share the core values of your dental practice, and let them know how working with you will benefit them.

Describe to them how you and your team will meet their specific needs from their perspective. Avoid using dental terminology that may be difficult to understand or could be intimidating.

Again, you don’t have a lot of time to pique their interest, so keep your content concise, friendly and informative.

#3 Include Dental Keywords

Keywords help your prospective patients find you by improving your search engine rankings (SEO).

Consider adding keywords like ‘dentist in Sydney’ or ‘Sydney dental clinic’ to optimise your content for SEO.

If you’d like to highlight specific services, you can add keywords like ‘dental implants in West Perth’ or ‘Invisalign in West Perth’ to emphasise them.

#4 Implement a Professional Design with Simple Navigation

Design your home page thoughtfully. Combine attention-grabbing images or graphics along with engaging content. A professional designer can help design your home page and the rest of your website, which can be invaluable.

Your home page (and your website) should also be simple to navigate. Include tabs that lead to your service pages so patients can easily find the information they’re looking for. If they can’t find what they’re looking for quickly and easily, most people will move on to the next website, which means you’ve lost a potential new patient.

#5 Proofread Your Content

This may seem obvious, but it’s worth mentioning because nothing looks more unprofessional than misspellings or typos on your website.

Read through your content before you publish it and consider having someone else take a look at it as well. It never hurts to have two sets of eyes look at your work before it goes out to the world.
